| The first notable Grey force user actually started out as perhaps the most powerful darkside user ever known. A Dark Magi, as they were called in those days, before the Sith were even more than as yet unknown primitive race on a remote world. The Magi were the step between the fading echo of the Infinite Empire and the rise of the Sith and Jedi. At that time this Magi named Myr (translated essentially as High King) Thierantho Morgoth had, with his fleets and armies, taken over most of known space. Such was his domination, that after years of consolidation of his power and assurance as undisputed ruler, he had begun to question his existence and reason for living. He had achieved all his ambitions so completely and decisively that absolutely no one was remotely capable or willing to challenge him.
Lack of challenges and new goals prompted within him a deep depression or more accurately a lonely despair.
He sought then to expand through the force, but he encountered an unmovable barrier within the force. He had reached the limits of darkside achievement. This limitation was not set by physical, mental, or natural force ability but simply by the confines set by the force itself. Attempts to break beyond this created a tempest of disturbance in the force that was consciously directed from the force itself…a warning that only a handful in history would ever hear.
This created a paradox of sorts for Myr Morgoth. The path he had walked and advanced that had seemed infinite, had reached its end. Many years later of deliberation and fuming despair would change Myr Morgoth. It was as if he had discovered he had lived a lie. While he had achieved all the goals he set for himself he had discovered that he valued none of it and had no one to share it with. It was not long after that he disappeared leaving an Empire without its ruler. Predictably chaos ensured with various Overlords and Generals fighting it out for control until dozens of little galactic kingdoms sprouted up.
In the 65 years that preceded his reappearance, the empire of Morgoth, of which no name has survived to this day, was gone. Upon his return, the Myr was very different. Gone was the pitch dark and bladed armor he had been known for. No aura of darkness radiated from him. Only his immense stature and the three glowing force power crystals embedded in his forehead marked him as being the former Emperor. However, in his later travels he quite frequently ran afoul of the dark leaders who had risen in his absence. The few who survived such encounters, thru desperate luck or trickery, would state that Morgoth was now a force unlike anything ever witnessed before and of such mind blasting power that there were none who could hope to withstand him.
As it were, he had laid the foundations for grey force use and principals of merging light and dark sides in both philosophical and force disciplines. He is one of the few force grandmasters to die a presumed natural death, living well over 500 years, before disappearing again into the unknown regions with a chosen few of his devout followers. | |
